HISTORY

Our story begins in 1929 when sculptor, mathematician and engineer Paul Schatz made two key discoveries:

3D SHAPES INVERTED

First, it is possible to invert and move the only five geometric shapes that are three dimensional and composed of regular, identical polygons.

One of these shapes is the cube, hence our name Kuboid, and our logo, representing an inverted cube.

THE OLOID

Second is the Oloid form, a three-dimensional curved object that is made by placing two circles in perpendicular planes, so that the centre of each circle lies on the edge of the other circle.

INVERSION KINEMATICS

With these discoveries Inversion Kinematics were born – motion through the inversion of three-dimensional geometric shapes.

A wealth of inventions followed based on these forms and the principles of motion through inversion were created: machines, furniture, games, marine propulsion systems, airships, mixing machines, new appliances for treating water, invertible lamps and even packaging.

WORK OF A LIFETIME PRESERVED

Fast forward to today, the work of Paul Schatz is being preserved by the Paul Schatz Foundation with 30,000 letters, patents, drawings and plays stored in the archive.

AT WORK TODAY

Oloid based machines and devices are already being used today for water treatment and mixing.

INTO THE FUTURE

With today’s discoveries in new materials and advancements in engineering, electronics and digitalization, the grandson of Paul Schatz, Tobias Langscheid, has made it his mission to preserve and propel his grandfather’s legacy into the future with new and improved solutions.

THE TEAM TODAY

Kuboid Invest is comprised of a passionate team dedicated to fulfil our mission to make Oloid based technologies standard practice.
